Thank you, almost called you darling, old habit. My Korean wife gets upset, says she is my only darling. Hard to make her understand how it is used where I come from. I am certain in some regions it's used in a condescending manner. Nothing could be further from it's use in the south. My sister is Yvone's mom . Both are nurses and put too much faith in the medical profession. Both are forced to take flu shots. Its part of their employee agreement. They understand my feelings on the matter. Hard to influence them from S. Korea....May God bless

Hi Ginny, First these few thoughts. I have no way of knowing exactly which bacteria may be in the Rejuvelac I make. It seems that to truly know the answer to that question some very elaborate and expensive laboratory equipment would be required to test the mixture once it is done. I do not have such a laboratory, nor do I have access to one. Since my immune system is in relatively good condition, I simply trust my instincts and my stomach. For nearly all of my life, my palate senses foods that may be bad for me - most of the time - and thus I rarely get food poisoning. Beyond that, when I was younger and less careful, my stomach would actually reject foods which might make me sick. And I do mean literally reject those foods via regurgitation. However, I do not know your situation and I gather from some of the other posts that you are seeking help for your son. In the case of persons with compromised immune function, and that would include a variety of conditions and illnesses, the safer course would be to go with probiotics purchased from a reputable source. Beyond that here are a few specifics about the Rejuvelac I drink liberally each fall. One, I grow my own cabbages Organically. Because I grow them I am pretty much absolutely sure they are indeed Organic. This point is perhaps as important as any other factor and maybe even the most important of all. You see, I live out in a rural area and talk with a lot of people. I have learned that mainstream cabbage growers spray some incredibly toxic chemicals on cabbage to combat this particular little white butterfly which loves to lay its eggs on the young cabbages. (I have heard about 2 or 3 different farmers who died from illnesses caused by the chemicals they used in mainstream farming and gardening approaches.) Those eggs hatch and then grow into a worm which will bore into and eat the cabbage. So, get organic cabbages from a source which you absolutely know to be organic. If you find any little worms inside, just cut away that part of the cabbage and toss it out . The remainder of the cabbage is good, and in fact if you find such a worm, then you are pretty well guaranteed that the cabbage is indeed Organic - a very, very good thing. Next, use water which is as pure as you can get. For this purpose absolutely no municipal tap water because it probably has either chlorine or fluorine, or both. Obviously you really do not want either of those. I very finely chop up the cabbage and then put it into a five quart pot and nearly fill the pot with pre-boiled spring water (which is very pure in this particular area.) Then gradually bring the mixture up to a slow and gentle simmer. You do not want it to come to a full boil, just a gentle simmering level of heat. Keep it on the stove at low heat, simmering gently for about three hours and stir occasionally. You may need to add in more water before the end of the 3 hours. Take the pot off of the stove and allow it to cool to room temperature. Keep it covered, and let it sit at room temperature overnight or for ten to twelve hours. Then pour off the liquid, or pour it through a strainer. Store the juice in the refrigerator until it is gone. I drink three or four ounces - about a half of a cup each day usually with food. That's how I make Rejuvelac. It is simple - Organic cabbage, very clean spring water, heat and time. That's it! It has a mild cabbage flavor and I have grown to like it. One batch usually makes a little less than 3 quarts. If it begins to taste bad to me, I pour it out on the compost pile! Usually I finish it before that happens. However,.... There you have it. If you have any questions, write again and I'll do my best to answer!

ginnyn I am so sorry to hear about your son. I know what he is going through and I hope that what has helped me can help him as well. Tell him to stay away from all dairy especially milk. Be careful because it can be in things but not specifically called such, for example casein or whey are milk derivatives. I went vegan myself, but the dairy is the main trigger along with gluten. I have not gone 100% gluten free, but I certainly stay away from processed gluten. I only eat bread made from sprouted grains, like the Ezekial 4:9 bread. If I eat white bread or processed bread/flour/pasta I will be suffering for 3 days. Quinoa has been great as it is gluten free and I can use it in place of pasta. Now supplements I take a highly bioavailable form of curcumin, along with pcynogenol (french maritime pine bark extract) and astaxanthin. The bioflavanoids are great for the pain. And very important is burdock root which is a powerful blood purifier. Also sulpher aka MSM, although I am still playing around with trying to find a good quality source of it. I also have suffered with psoriasis for many years, as much as 80% of my body has been covered, and since doing the preceding, the psoriasis has healed and my RA is so much better. The only time it hurts or flares is if I have triggered it with something I should not have had in my diet.
