  • Seeing RED Over PINK: The Dark Side of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
    octubre 05, 2011

As billions of dollars every year get flushed down the toilet-like funnel of Big Pharma's cause marketing campaigns, with future promises that the pharmaceutical pipeline will come out with a new and improved drug, the very organizations which claim to represent the interests of those afflicted or who have survived breast cancer are profiting from both creating and concealing the causes of the disease.

  • GreenMedInfo.com Announces GMI PRO - Integrative Version
    agosto 03, 2011

GreenMedInfo.com Announces GMPRO - Integrative Version

GreenMedInfo.com (GMI) began as a one-of-a-kind natural medicine database providing free and convenient access to high integrity biomedical research on the therapeutic value of natural substances in disease prevention and treatment.  GMI now provides physicians, health care practitioners, clinicians, researchers and laypersons with an evidence-based resource through which the potential or actual therapeutic value of vitamins, minerals, herbs and foods can be determined.  We also provide an alternative toxicology database which enables users to access information on the harmful properties of drugs, chemicals, vaccines, etc., which is not always readily available elsewhere.

Throughout our first few years of existence it has always been the great supporters of GMI who have kept us going.  And we are forever thankful to all of our regular visitors, not only for their loyalty but also their constructive feedback and input.  Incorporating your many great suggestions and recommendations over the years has contributed to a substantial upgrade in both GMI content and presentation. So, our current GMI public version will continue as a highly productive win-win relationship for all parties involved.  Thank you!

However, we have now reached a major crossroad in our evolution and do so at a time of extraordinary financial and economic challenge for everyone.  Because our growth has been so meteoric of late, we are faced with rising overhead costs which must be covered if we are to continue the same or better standard of service.  Since we have seen a considerable increase in institutional usage, it has become necessary to offer a responsive and seamless experience for those who require such high quality service.  Hence, we make the following announcement with high expectations and great enthusiasm:

GreenMedInfo.com proudly announces the introduction of GreenMedInfo Professional (GMPRO) to the alternative health and integrative medicine marketplace.  This Integrative Edition is the first of two professional versions to be offered in 2011 and will officially launch the first week of August. The second professional version to be offered in the coming months is GMPRO MD Edition.  Since both of these editions of GMPRO have very reasonable subscriptions rates, we feel that more of our operating expenses will be covered by these paid editions. For anyone interested in hearing more about GMI PRO, please read the more detailed description below:

GMI PRO (Integrative Edition) is the second generation of the world's largest, evidence-based, natural medicine database. No other site on the web systematizes so much high integrity, peer-reviewed medical research and authoritative references pertaining to natural medicine applications. GMPRO offers a forever-growing body of working knowledge and experience which will significantly enhance your capability to address the holistic health needs of your clientele.

Each of the six major categories shown on our home page provides the most current scientific research and expert interpretation of the relevant studies, data and information available. Taken together these 6 indices effectively function as an alternative toxicology database. The clinical tools section represents a veritable health professional desk reference, saving you priceless time and much effort. GMIPRO has been designed as a highly interactive platform continually assimilating your input and feedback, thereby ever increasing its focus, accuracy and efficiency.

This professional version offers you 8 great features, some of which have become indispensable for alternative and complementary health practitioners. Chiropractors, acupuncturists, osteopaths, naturopaths and homeopaths are just a few whose knowledge base and skill set will experience an immediate upgrade through the use of GMPRO . Likewise, holistic health coaches, wellness counselors and integrative health consultants will greatly benefit by augmenting their repertoire with GMPRO . You will become one of the most well informed and competent healthcare professionals in your field with the addition of GMPRO to your practice/consultancy.

    3 Ways To Support GMI:

GreenMedInfo.com is the world's largest entirely free and 100% evidence-based natural medical database. We are a free and independent user-supported source of media.

While we hope we will have your support, it is important to emphasize that all 16,000+ articles are free to view in their entirety without having to register or contribute anything.

The membership (at a nominal 2.95 a month) sponsorship and donation options simply provide a way for us to keep our solar-powered server operating ($345 a month), without having to run advertisements or seek outside money with strings attached. Your continued support also enables us to provide members and sponsors a powerful set of time-saving information retrieval and comprehension tools which are further clarified here.

    Latest Newest
This month has been a rollercoaster for our two person, entirely volunteer staff: I, Sayer Ji, and our web developer Cameron Fillers, road out a storm of server/software crashes that lasted two weeks and left myself and especially Cameron with precious little sleep. We apologize for anyone who suffered service interupptions, and are committed to preventing any future outages by moving our server to Aiso.net's new highly scalable and much more energy-efficient web platform sometime in June. Other happenings.....
    1) I was a guest attendee at an Integrative Medical conference in Hollywood Florida sponsored by Age Medicine Management Group April 28-29 and chaired by my long term colleague Dr. Derrick DeSilva.  This event was deeply inspiring. Being amidst 400+ medical doctors aspiring to integrate natural therapies into their practices reinstated hope in me for the future of medicine in this country. Find out about the AMMG's next conference in Nov. here. I plan on being there.
    2) I was a guest on Dr. Rima Reports along with Professor Chris Busby where we discussed last month's newsletter topic, namely, why 'there is no safe level of radiation' and how the present radiation risk standards used by world governments are up to 5 orders of magntitude off the mark in accurately determining the harms associated with internalized "low-dose" radioisotope exposure.  Video debrief here

    3) I was a guest speaker at the Integrity Biofeedback Academy and spoke on the topic of "Are You Dying To Lower Your Cholesterol?" The powerpoint and streaming video presentation can be viewed through the Webex plugin here.

    4) NetGreenNews has volunteered to promote the cause of GMI through its new Health & Wellness portal http://ngnwellness.com/

    Latest Research Stream.....

As many of you already know our Facebook page is place where you can find a continual stream of updated GMI research, dialogue and community interactivity. With over 11,000 fans our page generates over 1.3 million impressions a month, according to Facebook analytics. I spend quite a bit of my free time posting there. Below are just a few of hundreds of posts found there each month.

Cancer Metastasis: Natural Anti-Metastatic Spices, Foods, Nutrients
Cancer is not some predestined gene-bomb setting itself off within us, rather, a logical result of decades worth of cell shock/damage/adaptation to environmental poisoning and nutrient deprivation. These cells have learned to survive the constant abuse, and flip into survival mode which is self-centered, hyper-proliferative (constant self-repair/replication) and aggressive (metastatic).

    Turmeric: "The Golden Goddess"
Ancient Indians believed that turmeric contained the energy of the Divine Mother. Modern science now confirms that it has medical relevance in over 500 medical conditions, with no less than 150 distinct pharmacological actions. Are these not exoteric descriptions of "compassion" and "intelligence"? In Sanskrit turmeric is known as “Gauri” (“The One Whose Face is Light and Shining”) and “Kanchani” (“Golden Goddess”)

I am disturbed by "organic" infant formula which contain ingredients classified as "corrosive," "irritant" and/or "harmful" by conventional toxicological standards. What's going on here?

    Bacterial Infections: Resistance/Biofilm Formation |

Fear is a normal response to antibiotic resistant "super germs" IF you are unaware of the severe limitations of conventional chemical warfare and the superior capabilities of natural substances like cinnamon, garlic and honey at readjusting the terrain back to a healthy microflora balance where the less friendly microbes can not overwhelm and overrun the friendlier ones.

Is it really any wonder that the prevalence rate for calcification disorders is so high? We actually consume limestone "for our bones," and fortify a large percentage of our foods with inorganic calcium to "enhance" its nutritional value. Given the increases of "brain gravel," "breast calcification," "arterial calcification," etc., we should take note of substances which dissolve these pathological deposits.

Red Yeast Rice: Superiority Over Statin Drugs
Weird, isn't it? A 25 billion dollar statin drug industry owes its very existence to an unassuming yeast-fermented rice used as a condiment in Asia? If one is going to subscribe to the "lipid hypothesis" of heart disease then lowering cholesterol with a food makes much more sense than using a biologically/evolutionarily unprecedented chemical which exists only because it is a patentable alternative.

After receiving your supportive feedback and reflecting on the situation more deeply we are resolute in our commitment to provide this resource to the public as 100% solar-powered. Please support this decision by considering becoming a member or sponsor. We need 100 members to cover our server costs and are already a third of the way there!

The Farmaceutical Future of Medicine: Sulforaphane
You aren't going to find this one in the pharmaceutical pipeline anytime soon because sulforaphane is found in cruciferous vegetables, and in up to 1,000 times higher levels in the seed sprouts versus the mature plant. It has profound detoxifying, anti-infective, anti-cancer, neuroprotective and life-promoting properties. Those who have thyroid disorders need not fear as it is NOT goitrogenic.

Water increases gastric pH in healthy subjects.
We already found that earthworm paste is superior to proton pump inhibitor drugs for healing gastric ulcer, but this study steals the show. A glass of water effectively raises (alkalinizes) the stomach ph within 1 minute versus up to 2 and 1/2 hours for a proton pump inhibitor drug. It is amazing what results applying commonsense to "medical conditions" like indigestion can get you!

Statin Drugs: 70+ Diseases Associated with Statin-Induced Poisoning & Nutrient Depletion
As our evaluation of statin drugs continue we have identified an entire series of critical nutrient deficiencies caused by this chemical class that reach beyond the well known CoQ10 depletion. Statin use is also associated with copper, zinc, vitamin E and severe selenium depletion. With 25 billion dollars in sales annually, it will take time for doctors/patients to acknowledge they have been poisoning/poisoned.

It shouldn't come to any great surprise that a few carefully placed needles beats "therapeutic" fluoride poisoning (Fluoxetine = Prozac) in alleviating depression. But just in case you need proof.....

Infant Formula: 47 Diseases Connected To Its Use | GreenMedInfo
There are cases where formula is necessary, and certainly homemade goat milk based formula is an alternative that is rarely used. Also, with the human breast acting as a repository for hundreds of known fat soluble toxins, e.g. perchlorate, mineral oil, parabens, DDT, etc. its use may be justified in certain individuals. However, the research can not be denied: mass market infant formula causes disease.

Poisoning with "low-dose" (as if any dose of a poison were acceptable) pesticides causes many of the features associated with metabolic syndrome: obesity, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance. The increased adiposity (fat tissue) that develops is a logical result of the body cordoning off poisons to keep them from wreaking havoc on more metabolically active and indispensable tissues.

Any organism whose soul is permeated with the ability to bring peace of body and mind to another, deserves our undying respect and appreciation - meet Lavender, a plant whose physical beauty is matched, if not surpassed by its spiritual beauty.

    Grapefruit: Solar Principle Incarnate
Have you ever glanced at a grapefruit and perceived it as a vibrant archetypal incarnation of the solar principle? After all, does it not look like the spitting image of the sun? Does not it's rind, flesh and seeds burn through mucous and opportunistic microbes that thrive in damp, dark and oxygen deprived environments? Grapefruit brings healing light into the body...

162 Studies Demonstrating the Superiority of Natural Substances vs. Drugs
Have you seen our Pharma/Nature Face Off? Two years of sifting through tens of thousands of studies has brought these 162 clinical gems to light.

    Liver Cancer: Evidence-Based Natural Therapies
Close to 100 substances with inhibitory activity against liver cancer...

Chamomile has a knack for healing, which is why it often grows near roads - these open sores of civilization - and is sometimes known as "the plant doctor," because it helps the growth and health of other plants.

    Dandelion: Powerful Medicinal "Weed."
“If dandelions were hard to grow, they would be most welcome on any lawn.”
    ~ Andrew V. Mason

Indole-3 carbinol reverses multidrug resistant melanoma in vivo.
Cruciferous vegetables, e.g. Broccoli, Cabbage, Collards, Kale, are a great source of indole-3-carbinol, one of Nature's most powerful anti-cancer agents.

Papaya: Evidence Supporting Its Use In 38 Conditions
Let's just say hypothetically the five billion CVC and Walgreens drug stores in America shut their doors. Where would we get our medicine? Well, Nature was doing a pretty good job before we decided consuming fine chemicals excreted by the vast pharmaceutical-petrochemical industrial complex was a far better idea.

Lowering serum cholesterol concentrations does not reduce mortality and is unlikely to prevent coronary artery disease.
A meta-analysis of cholesterol-lowering trials (22) demonstrated that coronary mortality was not lowered by cholesterol lowering, but total mortality was increased.

    Raw versus Cooked | GreenMedInfo
I believe that consuming raw food is essential for optimal health, and yet I must acknowledge that cooking certain vegetables not only does not lower the antioxidant capacity of those foods but may actually raise it. I'm always learning here myself....

    Quote of the Month

"We have repressed far more than our sexuality: our very organic nature is now unconscious to most of us, most of the time, and we have become shrunken into two dimensional social or cultural beings, aware of only five of the hundreds of senses that link us to the rich biological nature that underlies and nourishes these more symbolic and recent aspects of ourselves."

  • Turmeric: 1,500 Peer-Reviewed Biomedical Studies Supporting Its Use as a Medicine
    marzo 05, 2011

Its official!  We have just completed our two week long project of reviewing all 3,866 studies on Turmeric (and its major phenolic compound curcumin) on MEDLINE and we have published our results on the GreenMedInfo.com Turmeric page.  We believe that this page (which will take a minute to load, due to the voluminosity of data) is the worlds’ most extensive biomedical resource on the subject of this herb’s benefits and we encourage you to share it with others and link to it.

We have found no less than 1500 studies indexed across 152 pharmacological actions indicating its therapeutic value in the prevention or treatment of 564 Diseases.  All of these are now freely available on our database.

Below you will find a screenshot showing the top diseases (37 visible) that Turmeric compounds that the evidence demonstrates have therapeutic value in preventing or treating.*

We determine these disease rankings according to both the number and quality of studies that exist supporting its use.  We call this rating  “evidence density,” and it attributes greater value to human, animal, and test tube (in vitro) studies, in that descending order. (Click here to learn more about evidence density)

As you can see there are 168 studies indicating it has antioxidant activity, 29 on its potential value for Alzheimer disease, and 51 on its value for inflammation.

*Due to the FDA’s unconstitutional gag order against our first amendment right to speak truthfully about the science indicating the therapeutic value of natural substances in disease prevention and treatment, we have created an algorithm which generates a statement about a substance’s “evidence density” based on the quantity and quality of research on our database that exists to support it.  To learn more about evidence density go here.

Hi Brother, Ever compiled list of relationships of high/low ORAC foods or ORP ratings vs diseases or looked at those aspects?

Don't know much data exists but would be cool to find out.  See my website to understand where I'm coming from. Thanks, Cap

I just became familiar with what you are involved in and think there can hardly be a more worthwhile effort than to compile what the planet knows regarding natural healing! Kudos!
